Cleanings and Exams
While home maintenance is essential, regular cleanings and examinations are necessary to maintain a healthy mouth. A professional cleaning will remove plaque and tartar. Tartar is plaque that has hardened and can be above or below the gum line. Your teeth will also be polished which removes plaque and stain.
A comprehensive dental examination will be performed by your dentist at your regular check up which will include:
- Gum disease evaluation
- Oral cancer screening
- Evaluation of restorations
- Tooth decay evaluation, which may include the use of Diagnodent
- Evaluation of x-rays for decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss
Digital X-Rays
Using the most advanced dental technology possible is just as important as staying up-to-date on the latest treatment techniques. Because our practice is dedicated to providing you with the safest and most convenient treatment options available, we utilize advanced digital X-ray technology in our office.
Digital X-rays provide several advanced imaging options designed to save time, provide clearer dental photos, and expose patients to less radiation than traditional X-ray technology.
A full mouth series of dental x-rays is recommended for new patients. A full series is usually good for five years. Bite-wing x-rays (x-rays of top and bottom teeth biting together) are taken at recall (check-up) visits and are recommended once or twice a year to detect new dental problems.
Composite Fillings
We are a mercury-free practice. A composite filling is a tooth colored filling that is used to restore teeth that have been damaged by decay or fracture. This restoration blends into your teeth, giving you a natural looking and long-lasting final result.
Crowns
Dental crowns are used when cavities caused by dental decay are too severe to be repaired by traditional dental fillings. They “cap” teeth after they have been cleared of dental decay and cover the healthy parts of the teeth to retain as much of the natural teeth as possible. They are custom fitted to match your bite and are typically made of porcelain to blend in with the rest of your smile.
Dental Bridge
Much like dental implants or dentures, a dental bridge is a dental restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth. This long-lasting restoration is permanently fixed in place using dental crowns to fill a space left by a missing tooth. Tailored to each patient’s needs, dental bridges help create a more uniform appearance and restore the utility of the mouth and smile.
Root Canals
Root canal therapy is an treatment that focuses on healing and restoring damaged or infected root pulp. This treatment is usually offered for patients who have severe toothaches caused by inflamed tissue. Infected root pulp is typically the result of dental decay that reaches past the outer protective layers of the tooth and causes the pulp to become irritated or destroyed by harmful bacteria.
The aim of root canal therapy is to save the life of the tooth. If the infection is allowed to go untreated, the root pulp, also known as the “nerves” of the tooth, may die and require the tooth to be extracted. This can cause other unnecessary dental issues, such as the surrounding teeth misaligning.
Dental Implants
Single-tooth implants can be very advantageous compared to other tooth replacement options. They not only look and function as natural teeth, but they also replace the tooth without affecting the health of neighboring teeth. The implant also replaces the root of your tooth, better preserving the bone.
Single-tooth dental implants can be a long-term solution in maintaining your beautiful smile. Other tooth replacement options can cause the gums to recede and the jawbone to deteriorate. This type of implant helps us avoid all of those issues while keeping a healthy smile with your jawbone intact.
Teeth Whitening
When you think of cosmetic dentistry, the first thing that probably comes to mind is teeth whitening. As one of the most common cosmetic dental treatments available, teeth whitening is a cost-effective way to brighten and renew your smile. Many dental practices offer both in-house teeth whitening treatments and take-home teeth whitening treatments.
Professional teeth whitening typically uses a robust whitening gel placed over the outside surfaces of the teeth to remove stains and discolorations from the tooth enamel. This process can take upwards of 30 minutes to complete but differs per patient, depending on their needs.
The above are just some of the comprehensive services Dental Care provides. Whatever your situation or circumstance, Dr. Jones can help you determine the best care to suit your needs.
